The not quite empty bowl

Migas

Crumbs

These are bits of bread left over bread from our day, we cut five pieces for lunch and ate three, we cut two more for dinner, giving a total of four and ate two. These two pieces plus the third of the leftover baguette make me feel guilty at the waste. In NZ we don’t usually buy baguettes; we are more accustomed to buying loaves of bread that last about three days. These loaves contain more or less 20 slices of bread which we make into toast or sandwiches. For three people (my mother, my father and I) it can be too much bread. Last time I was home I asked Dad why they don’t make half loaves, he said he didn’t know but it would be fantastic if they did. But sometimes a half baguette or loaf (if they made it) isn’t enough; you never know.

Díle a Carmen que te enseñe a hacer torrijas.

Nunca más te sobrará pan.
